US Marine Sgt. Kevin Balduf

US Marine Sergeant Kevin Balduf, aged 27, from Nashville has been killed in Afghanistan. The incident happened on 12th May 2011 and is currently being investigated. Sources suggest Sgt. Balduf was shot and killed by a rogue Afghan policeman.

He was assigned to the 8th Communications Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

In 2004, Sgt. Balduf was involved in an ambush in Afghanistan and saved the lives of several Marine colleagues.

"There was an ambush when he was out on patrol. He put himself in a perilous position. When everyone else was running for cover, he returned fire. He called in an air strike. He got the Bronze Star for that," his twin brother, Kyle, told WSM-TV Nashville.

Sgt. Balduf leaves many family members behind, including two daughters, ages 3 and 5. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

  2. I remember serving with you honorably. You were one of the last Marines I saw before I checked out. You were my last Platoon Sgt. You were also the last person I would have thought would have fallen. RIP.
