US Army Spc. Brandon Kirton

US Army Specialist Brandon M. Kirton, aged 25, from Centennial, Colorado, died on 18th May 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire and mortar rounds.

Spc. Kirton served with the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Since joining the Army in January 2008, Spc. Kirton has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery, a Purple Heart for injuries in combat and numerous other medals and ribbons for his service, the Army said.

He leaves his daughter, Heaven Kirton and his parents, Robert and Kathleen Kirton.

  4. To the Kirton family, Since I heard the sad news of Brandon's ultimate sacrifice, you have been in my thoughts and my prayers several times a day. Brandon, along with all of our other Fallen Heroes, will always be remembered. May God comfort your heavy hearts, hold you in his arms, and will always love you. God Bless America!
