US Army 1st. Lt. John Runkle

US Army First Lieutenant John M. Runkle, age 27 from West Salem, Ohio, was killed in action in Kandahar, Afghanistan on 26th May 2011 when his unit was struck by an insurgent bomb.

Lt. Runkle served with the 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

His body arrived at Dover Air Force Base on Saturday 28th May 2011.

    Jake is going to pick up where u left off with Logan on west point. He's still in it...has a goal set to follow in your footsteps. Now Evann is already talking about in 10 years he wants to be a hero like his cousin. I couldn't have picked a better role model for my children. Now your Dad is shopping for a curio cabinet for all your awards for what you did. I'M DAMN PROUD OF YOU CUZ!!!
