25-year-old US Navy Petty Officer Brian K. Lundy from Austin, Texas, died on Friday 9th September 2011 from injuries received when a bomb exploded while he was conducting a dismounted patrol in Marjah, Helmand province.
PO Lundy was serving as a combat medic with the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, based at Camp Lejeune.
He joined the Navy in 2006 and earned the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He also received the Navy “E” Ribbon for his service aboard the carrier Ronald Reagan, which he served aboard between November 2006 and July 2008.
