27-year-old US Army 1st Lieutenant Ivan D. Lechowich, from Valrico, Florida, was one of three soldiers killed in action by an insurgent bomb in Ghazni province on 28th September 2011. They served with the 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, based at Fort Leonard Wood. The three soldiers were riding in a Humvee when the vehicle struck a roadside bomb.
Also killed were Spc. Steven Gutowski and Pfc. David Drake
