US Army Sergeant Timothy D. Sayne, age 31, from Reno, Nevada, died on 18th September 2011 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, from injuries suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
He was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Sgt. Sayne joined the Army in February 2008 and transferred to Fort Wainwright in August 2008. He served in Iraq on a 12-month combat tour from September 2008 to September 2009.
He leaves his wife Thania, his son, his mother and father.
