US Army Specialist Nicholas Bernier

US Army Combat Medic, Spc. Nicholas P. Bernier, died on 25th June 2011 at Landstuhl Medical Center, Germany, from wounds he received in Kherwar, Afghanistan on 22nd June in a battle with enemy forces. He was hit by small arms rounds in the exchange of fire

21-year-old Spc. Bernier, from East Kingston, New Hampshire, served with the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Polk.

He joined the army in 2008 and deployed to Afghanistan in October 2010. He leaves his parents, brothers and sister.
