US Army Staff Sgt. Nigel Kelly

US Army Staff Sergeant Nigel D. Kelly, age 26, from Menifee, California, was killed in action on 25th June 2011 in Kunar province, Afghanistan, during a battle with enemy forces who attacked his unit with small arms fire.

SSgt. Kelly served with the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

SSgt. Kelly had previously completed two tours of duty in Iraq. He holds two Bronze Stars among other awards. He joined the Army in 2003 as a combat engineer.

  2. My mother met this young man once when he was in Canada and thought he was a beautiful soul and told him she would hide him if he would just stay and not go back and he no, he must go back. He was no polite and warm in spirit. May God bless your soul Nigel while you rest in the hands of God. May your soul rest in peace.

  5. you were one of my greatest friends I had a chance to ever known, I'm really glad we got to hangout alot before you enlisted, He really loved being apart of the U.S army and I wish I couldve been there with you. you will truly be missed. I know your in a better place.

  6. I went to Nigel's viewing and funeral yesterday. I met to his wife, parents, brother, grandparents and other relatives and friends. He was greatly loved and admired by all. It was really sad letting him go. I pray that we will get the strength and courage to move on and cherish the ones in our lives presently, because life is too short to do otherwise. RIP NIGEL
