Staff Sgt. Malachowski |
U.S Marine Staff Sergeant James M. Malachowski, aged 25, from Westminster, Md., died 20th March 2011 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
He joined the U.S Marines in June 2003 and was promoted to Staff Sergeant in April 2010.
Staff Sgt. Malachowski had previously deployed to Iraqi three times and deployed to Afghanistan in January 2011.
His awards include two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, two Iraq Campaign Medals, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
