U.S Marine, Lance Cpl. Christopher S. Meis, aged 20, from Bennett, Colorado, died 17th March 2011 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
L-Cpl. Meis joined the Marines in January 2010 and was deployed to Afghanistan with Operation Enduring Freedom in January of this year.
His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
