U.S Army Staff Sergeant Bryan A. Burgess, aged 29 from Cleburne, Texas was killed on 29th March 2011 during a battle with enemy forces in Konar. He died at Bagram Airfield.
Staff Sgt. Burgess was serving with the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
His Platoon were ambushed while on patrol and an intensive battle followed. Six soldiers were killed in the exchange and several others wounded.
Staff Sgt. Burgess had completed two tours of duty in Iraq before being deployed to Afghanistan. He had 26 days of his deployment remaining. He leaves his wife and two children aged 3 and 4.
