US Army Staff Sergeant Joshua Throckmorton

US Army Staff Sergeant Joshua Throckmorton, age 28, was killed in action in Paktia province, Afghanistan on Tuesday 5th July 2011 when a roadside bomb detonated against his patrol vehicle.

SSgt. Throckmorton was a native of Battle Creek, Michigan and a father of three.

SSgt. Throckmorton was based in Germany and served with the 709th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command. He had previously spent fifteen months in Iraq and was three months in to a one year deployment in Afghanistan.

  3. Words can not begin to express my sorrow for your family. I am the mother of a deployed soldier and this news is a fear I live with everyday.

  4. No words that I can say will ever be enough, my son is also currently serving in Afghanistan and I live this same fear daily. I am sending prayers to the family and friends of this hero who was taken far too soon! Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice, it does not go unnoticed. May you rest in peace Josh!

  9. My heart cannot hardly phantom the feelings and emotions that Joshuas Mother & Father will feel from the lose of such an amazing young dedicated brave young man/soul. I am sure they are so very proud of him and all of his sacifrices for our great Nation. He was truly a Hero, his dedication to the fight for Freedom will live in the hearts and minds of all that knew him and loved him.Thank You Josh for fighting for us (USA) and for what you believed in may GOD REST YOUR BRAVE SOUL and watch over your family.

  11. RIP Throckmorton, my heartfelt sympathy for your wife and family. I did not personally know you but I was told you were a great guy! Please watch over your battles and all the other soldiers out there. "Land of the Free Because of the Brave". You are a true hero.
