US Army Sgt. 1st Class Terryl Pasker

US Army Sergeant 1st Class Terryl L. Pasker, age 39, from Cedar Rapids, died on 9th July 2011 in Panjshir province, Afghanistan, after being shot by an Afghan security officer. The assailant was subsequently shot and killed by a US soldier.

Sfc. Pasker, served with the Iowa Army National Guard's Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. He was due to return home later this month. He enlisted in the US Army in July 1990 and joined the Iowa National Guard in April 1995.

Sfc. Pasker, leaves his wife, Erica, of Cedar Rapids, his parents, one brother and two sisters.

In the same incident, Retired US Trooper Paul Protzenko, a civilian contractor died.

  2. I pray that Terry is now a soldier for God; that he will be protecting us from the all unseen evils. I pray for his wife, Erica, that she will be blessed with the strength to accept God's peace and not waiver in her faith at such a horrible time. My love and prayers go out to her and all his family. Always remember that tomorrow is never a given and tell those you love how much they mean to you.

  4. Erica, you and your family are in my prayers. My brother Paul was with Terry that day and died with him. I pray for your strength. I feel your sadness and pain. There are no words, just know that another person has you in their thoughts and prayers. Colette
