Canadian Army Trooper Stefan Jankowski

Canadian Army Trooper Stefan Jankowski, age 25, died in Canada from a prescription drug overdose on Saturday 9th July 2011. He had been suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) since returning from combat duties in Afghanistan.

Dodging bullets, seeing a boy with his face blown off and holding a dead friend in his arms was more than Trooper Jankowski could bear. He suffered anxiety, depression and insomnia as well as the horrors of war.

He served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons.

Note: Trooper Jankowski is one of thousands of troops from all nations who suffered from PTSD after serving in Afghanistan. We have included him on this website as a tribute to his service in Afghanistan.

A tragic story and unfortunately as said in the note, there are thousands of soldiers around the world suffering and contemplating suicide. I think it's commendable to include Trooper Jankowski on this website. RIP

  6. he was back from afghanastan but was in petawawa and he was at work and broke his colar bone and they gave him narcotics and he was sent home for a week then went through surgery and hey was perscribed oxycotin and morphine then he got addicted to the narcotics and he didnt go back to work the next week they said he went awol. then the second time he was still hooked where he should of been sent to a rehab and at the same time he was diagnoste with ptsd and was not given any help besides seen a doctor who gave him narcotics after he was addicted and went awol from his addiction a doctor given from the army gave him more oxycontins and then he was discharged shortly after and he went to the hospital the night before he died and said he was suicidal and they released him and he was dead late that night early the next morning...makes me sick..i couldnt imagine what this man went through and that he fought for this country and know one helped him its sick..and there has been more men that have died with the lack of help after the army as well i find the army wants the men as i once was in but wasnt in war they want your life to be about that i lost my fiance and kids and thats what they want almost so there is no distractions..this is my opinion any ways
