The U.S Marine killed in Afghanistan on Monday 7th February has been named as Lance Corporal Aaron M. Swanson, aged 21, from Jamestown, NY. He died while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province.
Marine Swanson was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment of the 4th Marine Division. His reserve unit is based in Buffalo. Aaron joined the Marine Corps on 18th May 2009.
NY State Governor, Andrew Cuomo, has directed that on Thursday 10th February, flags on state government buildings be flown at half-mast in honor.
