The U.S Department of Defense announced that 1st Lt. Daren M. Hidalgo of Waukesha was killed in Afghanistan on Sunday 20th February.
Lt. Hidalgo died of wounds from an improvised explosive device that was used to attack his unit.
He was serving in Operating Enduring Freedom in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan. He was 24 years old.
He was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.
