US Marine Sergeant Joseph D'Augustine killed in Helmand

29-year-old US Marine Corps Sergeant Joseph D'Augustine, from Waldwick, New Jersey, was killed on 27th March 2012 during a combat operation in Helmand province.

Sgt. D'Augustine was a bomb and mine disposal technician serving with the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The former Waldwick High School graduate had served four overseas combat tours during his career. This was his second deployment to Afghanistan.

According to news reports, Sgt. D’Augustine was due to return home in less than two weeks for his sister's wedding. He leaves his parents Anthony and Patricia, and sisters, Nicole, Jennifer and Michele among other relatives and friends.
