US Army Captain Aaron Istre

US Army Captain Aaron D. Istre, aged 37, died in Kabul on 24th March 2012. The circumstances of his death are being investigated.

Capt. Istre deployed to Afghanistan in December 2011. He had previously served in Iraq.

His awards and decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbon, and NATO Medal.

He joined the military in November 1998 and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), at Fort Hood since June 2009.

  3. I just left ft hood under his command. He was a great man, leader, and friend. He changed my life for the better. Thank you sir, rest in peace
