Repatriation of six British soldiers killed in Afghanistan

The bodies of six British soldiers killed in a bomb blast in Afghanistan on 6th March arrived at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Tuesday 20th March. Click here to view video of the repatriation.

The soldiers killed were Cpl Jake Hartley, Pte Anthony Frampton, Pte Christopher Kershaw, Pte Daniel Wade and Pte Daniel Wilford from 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment and Sgt Nigel Coupe from 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.

The plane will land at around 1:30pm and the cortege will pass by the Memorial Garden between 4:30pm and 5.00pm, reaching the John Radcliffe Hospital at around 6.00pm.

Norton Way will be closed from approx 1.00pm, whilst Station Road, Brize Norton, will be closed for approximately 10 minutes once the cortege leaves Britannia Gate at RAF Brize Norton.

There will be road closures in place at the Marston Ferry Road / Cherwell Drive Junction, Marston Road / Cherwell Drive Junction, and by mini roundabout by the entrance to the John Radcliffe Hospital. Please expect severe delays in this area whilst the road closures are in operation.

  2. To the Families of these Brave Soldiers I send my regards. May they Rest in peace knowing they were on a mission to rid the world on terrorism and make it a Free World. My Son is there and is to return to the U.S. in a month. I'm so sorry your boy's mission ended this way. God bless. paul usa
