19-year-old US Army Pfc. Brandon L. Buttry, from Shenandoah, died on 5th November in Kandahar. According to a family spokesman, the young soldier was manning a watch tower when he died.
Pfc. Brandon deployed to Afghanistan in August. He joined the Army in January this year and completed Boot camp at Fort Benning, Georgia. He served with the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
He was adopted at the age of three by Don and Pam Buttry. He leaves his parents, eight sisters and five brothers, along with other relatives and friends.
