Danish Army officer, Lieutenant Jonas Peter Ploger, aged 26, died on 21st July 2010 after his vehicle struck a roadside bomb while on patrol near Forward Operating Base Budwan, north of Gereshk, in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Lt. Ploger, from Frederiksberg, Denmark, served with C Company, Guard Hussar Regiment (Kompagniets C, Gardehusarregimentet).
Thanks for the respect for the fallen soldier. However, he died from an IED-explosion, while securing his platoon, getting out of the green zone, when they encountered an ambush.
ReplyDeleteHe did not die after his vehicle struck an IED. We were on a foot patrole near FOB Armadillo, when he knelt down and set of an IED with his knee! He did so, waiting while everyone passed by him, to make sure that everyone got up safely from the green zone back on high ground.
