US Marine Staff Sergeant Jonathan Davis killed in Helmand

34-year-old US Marine Staff Sgt. Jonathan D. Davis, from Kayenta, Arizona, was killed during operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, on 22nd February 2013. Sgt. Davis served with Headquarters Battalion, 32nd Georgian Liaison Team, part of the 1st Marine Division based at Camp Pendleton, California.

Sgt. Davis, of the Navajo Nation, joined the US Marine Corps in October 1997. His awards and medals include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal.

He is the first reported foreign military fatality in Afghanistan for over a month.

US Marine Sergeant Michael Guillory


28-year-old US Marine Sergeant Michael J. Guillory, was killed on 14th December during operations in Helmand province. He served with the California-based 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion.

Sgt. Guillory's mother told Fox News (see video news above) that her son had been in a patrol vehicle when it overturned.

"He was doing his job and the vehicle that was carrying him rolled over and rolled on him and killed him," she says. "I think one other person got hurt, but he didn't make it."

US Marine Lance Corporal Anthony Denier

26-year-old US Marine Lance Corporal Anthony Denier was killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan over the weekend.

L-Cpl. Denier, from upstate New York, had been in the US Marines for almost two years and deployed to Afghanistan in October. He was based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

US Marine Lance Corporal Dale Means

US Marine Lance Corporal Dale Means, from New Prague, Minnesota, was killed in Helmand province on Sunday 18th November 2012.

The 23-year-old gunner died when the vehicle he was in struck a roadside bomb.

He deployed to Afghanistan in July on his first combat tour.

U.S. Marine, Cpl. Lucas T. Pyeatt

A Marine from West Chester, Ohio has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced the death of Cpl. Lucas T. Pyeatt, who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pyeatt, 24, died Feb. 5 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.

He was assigned to the 2nd Radio Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Grou.
