US Army Sergeant David Chambers killed on patrol in Panjwai

25-year-old US Army Sergeant David J. Chambers was killed in action on 16th January 2013 during a foot patrol in Panjwai, Kandahar.

His unit was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and Sgt. Chambers died from injuries sustained in the blast.

Sgt. Chambers, from Hampton, Virginia, served with the 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.

He joined the Army in May 2009 and on completion of training in Georgia, he served with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, based in Germany. He deployed to Afghanistan with 2nd Stryker in June 2010 to May 2011. He arrived at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in October 2011 and deployed to Afghanistan on his second tour in November of 2012.

Sgt. Chambers leaves his parents Julie and Michael among many friends and relatives.
