Lance Corporal Harry Lew, aged 21, from Santa Clara, California, died on 3rd April 2011 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
L-Cpl. Lew joined the Marines in August 2009 and reported to his unit in February 2010.
Military officials in Hawaii said his unit deployed to the Middle East in November 2010.
His unit had joined a Marine combat team for counterinsurgency work with the Afghan National Security Forces, provided security to locals and promoted development in the region.
