Czech Army Sergeant Adrian Werner

Czech Army Sergeant Adrian Werner, age 32, died on 9th October 2011 at the military hospital in Olomouc, Czech Republic, from a bullet wound he received when enemy forces attacked a Czech military base in Wardak province on 6th July.

Sgt. Werner was given immediate medical treatment then airlifted to a military hospital in Kabul. The next day he was evacuated to the Central Military Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic. on the spot and in a military hospital in Kabul, and one day later he was flown to the Czech Republic. 

In August he was transferred to a specialist ward of the military hospital in Olomouc, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Czech Army Sergeant Robert Vyroubal

Czech Army Sergeant Robert Vyroubal, age 31, was killed and two others wounded on 31st May 2011 when a roadside bomb detonated against their patrol vehicle in Wardak province. The bomb, containing about 50kg of explosives had been hidden in a canal under the road.

Defence Minister Alexandr Vondra posthumously awarded Sgt. Vyroubal the State Defence Cross, the highest decoration of the ministry.

Czech Army Sergeant killed by roadside bomb

A Czech Army Sergeant was killed and two others wounded on 31st May 2011 when a roadside bomb detonated against their patrol vehicle in Wardak province.

The injured soldiers were airlifted to a military field hospital in Logar province.

One of the injured was a Lieutenant Colonel.

Czech soldier, Radim Vaculik, killed by IED

The Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic has confirmed the death of a Czech soldier - a member of PRT Logar, Afghanistan - on Wednesday 30 April, 2008.

28-year-old Radim Vaculik died after an improvised explosive device burst up under the HMMWV vehicle used by the Czech contingent serving at the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Logar, Afghanistan.

Four other Czech soldiers were injured, one of them seriously. All soldiers were transported to the American Field Hospital at Bagram, north of Kabul, Afghanistan, for immediate treatment.

Czech Special Forces soldier, Milan Sterba

Lieutenant Milan Sterba, aged 35, and serving with the Czech Army Special Operations Group, was killed along with two Danish soldiers, an interpreter and three Afghan civilians when a suicide bomber rammed his vehicle into a military convoy in Gereshk in Helmand province, Afghanistan on 17th March 2008.

He was posthumously promoted from Chief Warrant Officer to the rank of Lieutenant.

Czech soldier, Staff Sgt. Nikolaj Martynov

Staff Sergeant Nikolaj Martynov, 28, was involved in a vehicle accident south east of Fajzabad. After initial treatment he was evacuated to the military hospital in Prague, where he lost his fight on 3rd May 2007.

Four other soldiers were slightly injured when the four vehicle patrol from the 43rd Airborne Mechanized BN, 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade, were involved in a landslide due to torrential rain.
